Position Description

As directed, the Truck Driver performs a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan. Work involves most of the following: Verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages; routing, delivering materials to prescribed storage locations, various buildings; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods; rearranging and taking inventory of material picked up and delivered ; examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage; removing material from truck and to its destination building. May operate hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties.

Task Execution: Employee is expected to carry out work in accordance with standard operating procedure, work instruction or on the job training with a common goal of meeting stated customer requirements. Employees are expected to follow the instructions given to them to complete the assigned work.

Material Movement

The Contractor shall pick up and deliver materials and supplies to prescribed locations. The Contractor shall load materials onto and off the transport vehicle. Following standard processes.

Equipment Operation

The Contractor shall be required to be licensed and operate all types of warehouse material handling equipment.

Vehicle Inspection

The Contractor shall perform vehicle inspection prior to and immediately after operation. As per vehicle inspection sheet.

Verification, Inspection, Storage, and Loading

The Contractor shall verify material to be delivered against the manifest as per material movement NSWC policies.

Driving record: Driver must maintain a clean driving record.

Quality: Employee is responsible for performing tasks with minimal errors. Recurring errors will not be tolerated.

Safety: Employee is responsible for performing tasks in a safe manner. Employees are required to comply with the requirements for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Employee is required to report any unsafe activity, mishap or accident to his/her supervisor or Lead immediately.

MHE Operation: MHE Operators are expected to inspect their equipment prior to operation and after operation. Employees should immediately report any near-miss, mishap or product damage as the result of the MHE operation.
