The Opportunity:
Work with the nation’s leading public health experts supporting CDC’s National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN). Collaborate with a diverse team of epidemiologists, public health analysts, data analysts, and infection preventionists). The Business Analyst will be responsible for facilitating the process to collect and define client requirements to help define the processes of a training program to meet the needs of a public health surveillance program.
Responsibilities:
Apply microbiology / clinical / lab background(s) and communications skills to elicit needs for systems tracking / monitoring pathogens and antimicrobial resistant organisms in the healthcare environment. Efforts could extend to support other information systems or informatics initiatives within the branch. Validate requirements for accuracy, completeness, clarity, testability, and traceability. Translate requirements into functional and technical specifications that reflect stakeholder needs. Document requirements and specifications, including complex data flows and business rules using appropriate tools. Manage and prioritize requirements to ensure that scope is consistent with expectations. Apply best practices to ensure optimal user experience. Support software verification and validation activities in an agile environment Identify, raise, and implement process improvements based on perceived/stated needs of the customers. Provide impact analysis and requirements gathering for the surveillance system. Proactively communicates and collaborates with external and internal customers. Deliver the following artifacts as needed: (Functional requirements (Business Requirements Document), including workflow, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
Qualifications:
Required:
Must be able to obtain a NACI clearance. Bachelor’s degree in biology, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or related field with 4+ years' experience supporting public health / health stakeholders as a Business Analyst Excellent communication skills: listening, writing, and experience interacting comfortably with scientists, epidemiologists, informaticians and developers. Demonstrated ability to manage the business analysis of systems including:
Requirements collection, validation, and management
Development of use cases and user stories
Proven meeting-facilitation and presentation skills
Experience developing mock-ups and documenting business processes, data flows, and workflows. Experience working through software development lifecycle including initiation, development, and verification.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in microbiology or relevant field such as Public Health or Laboratory Sciences
- Experience using a requirements management tool such as Jira.
- Experience supporting systems leveraging cloud infrastructure and platforms.
- Demonstrated experience supporting iterative software development methodologies and/or Agile.
- Certification in business analysis.
- Candidate to be located in the Atlanta, Georgia area.
