Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled, hands-on Electrical Engineer to work part-time on our existing Microchip/Atmel-based IoT platform. You will take current designs and develop low-voltage wall switches, sensors, and other smart-building products from concept through production. 

Key Responsibilities

●       Design low-voltage circuits and PCBs for wall switches, sensors, and related smart-building IoT devices.

●       Create a netlist from our existing designs.  Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and generate production-ready Gerber files using Autodesk Eagle, Altium, or KiCAD.  Must be familiar with DRC and LVS processes.

●       Some projects may require the ability to write, test, and debug microcontroller firmware (C/C++ for Atmel/Microchip MCUs)

●       Work directly with component/package suppliers and electronics manufacturers (sourcing, DFM feedback, and production handoff)

●       Conduct unit testing, development testing, and troubleshooting of microelectronic assemblies

●       Document designs and support iterative improvements to the existing platform

Required Qualifications:

●       3+ years of experience designing small IoT or embedded electronics products

●       Strong proficiency in circuit design and PCB layout

●       Hands-on experience with KiCAD, Altium, Eagle or other design tools.

●       Experience in PCBA manufacturing.

Like to have: 

●       Solid firmware development skills for 8/32-bit Microchip/Atmel microcontrollers

●       Experience interfacing with PCB fabricators, component suppliers, and contract manufacturers

●       Practical background in board-level testing, debugging, and troubleshooting

●       Ability to work independently on a part-time schedule in the Pittsburgh area

●       Experience with JLC.
