Overview
The QAC Laboratory Senior Microbiologist is responsible for monitoring environmental systems and products to provide support for production, facility, engineering, and quality departments. This position requires advanced understanding of laboratory testing and regulations, as well as mentoring/training, problem-solving, and internal/external coordination of testing.
Responsibilities
• Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control testing of product,
facilities, and critical systems
• Independently perform advanced method development and R&D
projects
• Maintain laboratory equipment, facility systems, etc.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment
• Generate reports
• Perform accurate and compliant data and record management
• Develop and maintain laboratory procedures
• Drive and direct continued improvement of laboratory operations,
assays, and procedures.
• Mentor and train other Microbiologists and coworkers according to
procedures and regulations
• Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others
throughout various levels of the global organization
• Must strictly adhere to safety requirements
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
• Must maintain company quality and quantity standards
• Must maintain good documentation and laboratory practices
• Must have effective oral and written communication skills
• Excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in
collaborative as well as independent work situations and environments
with minimal supervision
• Ability to remain calm and receptive in fast paced situations
• Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications
• BA/BS or MA/MS Degree in Biology or Microbiology
• Advanced working knowledge and understanding of regulations
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook)
• 10 years hands-on laboratory experience
• Must be able to perform reasonable job functions requiring periods of
standing, walking, climbing, balancing, lifting up to 50lbs, as well as
those requiring manual dexterity, effective listening and communication.
• Personal protective equipment including safety glasses, lab coat and
gloves required in most areas associated with this position
