Overview

The Machine Shop Technician at Cook Incorporated is responsible to design, manufacture, maintain and assemble new and existing fixtures, jigs, machine parts and tooling according to detailed designs and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Design and manufacture prototype fixtures, jigs, tools and etc.
• Produce a variety of fixtures, jigs and machine parts for use in the production area, which includes but is not limited to the following:
• Set up, program, and operate CNC, lathe, milling machine, surface grinder, drill press, and etc. to produce a variety of parts for production according to detailed specifications
• Perform general and preventive maintenance on equipment, including tools, fixtures, jigs and machines and etc. that are currently used in production or in the shop area
• Interface with engineering to increase efficiencies throughout production
• Access current production methods and develop/build more ergonomic tooling/ fixturing with appropriate safety considerations, in consultation with safety professionals
• Must maintain all training requirements for the position, while seeking out opportunities for continuous development and growth
• Adhere to the Quality Management System and its processes to meet FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO13485, and other applicable regulatory requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience as a machinist is preferred
• Ability to read/ write/ understand machine drawings and specifications
• Ability to use measuring devices and gauges to measure small parts
• Possess sufficient machining skills and abilities to successfully perform the work under little supervision
• Good organizational skills
• Detail-oriented

Physical Requirements:

• Minimal lifting with moderate exertion throughout the workday
• Excellent manual dexterity
• Majority of the day is spent in a machine shop environment, which requires moving around the shop and moderate bending/ stretching
• Various protective safety gear is necessary for different operations
• Limited exposure to hazardous materials or chemicals used in machinery operations
• Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate
