Overview
The Inventory Controller is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of inventory within the company, ensuring accurate and timely records, optimizing stock levels, and minimizing inventory-related costs. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records across all locations, including raw materials, internal assemblies, and consumables.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
- Develops employee awareness and competencies relating to cycle counting, inventory control and contingency planning.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, including shortages, overages, and damages.
- Implement and maintain inventory control procedures and best practices to minimize losses and improve efficiency.
- Analyze inventory levels and trends to identify areas for improvement and optimize stock levels.
- Develop and implement inventory forecasting and planning strategies to meet demand and minimize stockouts.
- Order Fulfillment:
- Coordinate with the procurement department as needed to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock to meet customer demand and production schedules.
- Collaborate with production and sales teams to ensure smooth inventory flow and timely delivery.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Generate and analyze inventory reports.
- Prepare and present reports to management on inventory performance and key metrics.
- Identify and analyze trends and patterns in inventory data to inform decision-making.
- System Maintenance:
- Maintain and update inventory management systems with accurate and timely data.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues related to inventory management.
- Assist in the implementation and integration of new inventory management technologies.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously evaluate and propose potential improvements to inventory control processes and procedures.
- Identify and implement cost-saving measures related to inventory management.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in inventory management.
Qualifications
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 5 years of experience in inventory control or a related field.
Qualification Requirements:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other inventory management software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with ERP and/or WMS systems preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers, etc.
- Works under general office environmental conditions
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to grasp, carry, feel or touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
- This position is a hybrid position, which requires regular on-site visits, up to 2-3 times per week
- Must reside within a reasonable distance, within a 1 hour radius via car, of Cook Medical in Bloomington, Indiana
