The Senior Director, Global IT Enterprise Architecture & Applications is the executive global leader responsible for driving the organization’s technology vision and innovation strategy. This role blends deep technical expertise with business acumen to ensure technology fuels growth and competitive advantage. This role is responsible for establishing current and long-range direction of technology aimed at keeping the organization on the forefront of change. This role reports to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer, Cook Group and Cook Medical.

**This position requires Eastern or Central Time Zone availability. Priority is for hybrid location within 2 hours of Bloomington, IN.

**For this position, qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Cook does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status for this employment position now or in the future.**

Responsibilities

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Strategy:

  • Lead enterprise AI/ML initiatives including natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics implementations that generate substantial business value through process automation, enhanced customer insights, and operational optimization across the organization.
  • Lead AI innovation efforts, identifying emerging technologies that can enhance products or operations.
  • Design and manage modern Data, ML and AI platforms leading a culture of Data as a Products and AI data ready strategy.

Emerging Technology Innovation Lab:

  • Establish innovation centers focused on evaluating and piloting emerging technologies including quantum computing, blockchain, augmented reality (AR/VR), and IoT solutions, with structured proof-of-concept processes that consistently identify high-value use cases for business implementation.

Digital Platform Architecture and Integration:

  • Design and implement modern digital platforms using API-first architectures, event-driven systems, and cloud-native technologies that support omnichannel customer experiences and enable significantly faster product development cycles through improved technical capabilities.
  • Define and execute the company’s technology enterprise architecture, technology roadmap and strategy in alignment with business goals.
  • Oversee software development, software delivery and modern applications development methods.
  • Define and execute platforms seamless integration strategy and ruthless systems standardization.
  • Collaborate with other executives to integrate technology into the overall business strategy.

Technology Trend Analysis and Strategic Planning:

  • Conduct comprehensive technology landscape assessments leveraging Gartner Hype Cycles, Forrester Wave reports, and industry benchmarking to develop multi-year technology roadmaps that maintain competitive advantage and drive successful digital transformation initiatives.
  • Build and mentor high-performing tech teams, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Manage budgets and KPIs for technology initiatives and ensure ROI on tech investments.
  • Represent the company’s tech vision to the executive team and beyond.
  • Dispenses technical advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures.
  • Coordinates the design, development, marketing, and maintenance of technology projects or product lines.
  • Promotes the interfacing and control of the organization's present technology and the dissemination of technological information throughout the organization.

Organizational Leadership:

  • Develop and manage systems, metrics, and internal training activities needed to support objectives
  • Adhere to established business plans and manage all costs incurred
  • Foster a supportive and productive work environment that aligns with Cook culture and values
  • Support employees in mapping a career pathway, and provide development opportunities to help them meet their objectives
  • Evaluate continuous improvement opportunities accordingly and implement, if appropriate, as we strive to improve and evolve our processes and procedures
  • Collaborate, negotiate and influence other executives, staff, board members, and external parties on behalf of Cook, Divisions, Functions, Entities, etc.
  • Manage and safeguard all Cook Medical intellectual property
  • Ensure that all aspects of the organization operate holistically in support of our objectives as stated in our Annual Business Plan and in compliance with the Cook Group Code of Conduct and written standards
  • Ensure all communications (verbal and written) are within Cook Medical’s Ethics and Compliance guidelines
  • Lead, hire, support, and provide guidance to all direct reports in compliance with the Cook Group Code of Conduct
  • Establish and maintain open communications to ensure employee engagement and participation
  • Promote and safeguard the organization’s culture and its reputation as an ethical company, inclusive and respectful employer, and good neighbor

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA preferred
  • 15 years of management experience

Knowledge and Skills and/or Abilities

  • Expertise in AI, Data and IT enterprise architecture, software development, platform integrations, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and product development.
  • Expertise on leading global teams and IT as a service is highly required.
  • Palantir experience is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence others at various levels
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Proven problem-solving skills across a matrix organization
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Highly motivated self-starter
  • Availability and willingness to travel on company business based on requirements of the role (domestically and internationally)

Physical Requirements

  • Requires occasional early morning or evening teleconferences
  • Works under general office environmental conditions
  • Sits for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity working with computers, etc.
