Overview
The Senior Interior Designer leads the design and documentation of interior environments working closely with architectural designers to focus on interior scope while influencing space planning to improve functionality. This role sets and maintains corporate interior standards and supports project execution with cross-functional teams to deliver designs aligned with company goals, the business plan, budgets, and schedules.
Responsibilities
- Lead interior design efforts across global corporate, manufacturing, and office facilities, aligning solutions with operational needs, user experience, and company standards.
- Develop and continuously optimize space planning strategies, proactively reviewing layouts to improve efficiency, workflow, and long-term space utilization.
- Own and maintain interior-related content within Revit models and AutoCAD drawings, ensuring all layouts reflect current as-built conditions and are kept accurate across all facilities.
- Manage and update furniture, fixture, and equipment (FF&E) layouts within centralized master building models, maintaining consistency across all facilities.
- Create and maintain detailed FF&E schedules and inventories by site, ensuring accurate tracking of furniture types, quantities, specifications, and locations.
- Select, specify, and standardize furniture systems, finishes, and materials that meet company expectations for performance, durability, aesthetics, and cost control.
- Establish and enforce global interior design standards, including furniture, finish palettes, and material applications, to ensure consistency across all facilities.
- Collaborate with Marketing to integrate corporate branding into interior environments, ensuring consistency with company identity and standards.
- Integrate interior design deliverables into the department’s centralized workflow, including SharePoint-based master drawing files and project documentation standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align interior design solutions with building systems, production requirements, and project objectives.
- Coordinate interior design scope with architectural designers to ensure alignment with overall building design.
- Support project execution from concept through implementation, including documentation, coordination with vendors and consultants, and review of submittals to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Perform site visits and field verification to validate layouts, furniture installations, and finish applications, ensuring alignment with design documentation.
- Monitor project progress and follow up on tasks to maintain alignment with schedules, priorities, and overall project goals.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and accessible digital records, drawings, and models within company systems, ensuring proper version control and data integrity.
- Adhere to the Quality Management System (QMS) and associated processes to ensure compliance with FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Maintain required training and actively pursue continuous professional development, including advancements in BIM, workplace design, and industry best practices.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance, follow safety requirements, and work professionally and effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Provide training, direction, and technical guidance to less experienced Interior Designers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- NCIDQ certification required.
- Autodesk Revit certification preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong working knowledge of design techniques, tools and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Strong working knowledge of materials, methods and tools involved in the constructions or repair of buildings and other structures.
- Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and mathematical skills are imperative.
- Work performed primarily in an office environment.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate.
- Utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers and equipment.
- Minimal lifting with minimal exertion throughout the workday.
- Frequent travel to other locations as needed.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation requirements under the ADA.
