Eastern Greene High School is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Softball Coach to lead the Thunderbird Softball Program. Eastern Greene is a 2A school in softball and competes in Sectional 47 alongside Linton, North Knox, Sullivan, South Knox, and West Vigo. The program also participates in the Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference.

The Head Coach will be responsible for building a strong and competitive program by guiding both varsity and junior varsity teams, developing feeder programs, and promoting the sport within the school and community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student-athlete development and character, and lead with integrity both on and off the field.

Qualifications

• Varsity coaching experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of the game of softball and ability to teach fundamentals
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• Ability to model sportsmanship, responsibility, and teamwork
• Willingness to engage families and community in support of the program

• Establish a strong and sustainable softball program for current and future athletes
• Mentor players in both skill development and personal growth
• Build a coaching staff and feeder program to support long-term program success
• Create a positive team culture and represent Eastern Greene with pride

Expectations

• Oversee all levels of the Thunderbird Softball Program (Varsity, JV, Jr. High, Youth Clubs)
• Select and mentor coaches at all levels
• Collaborate with non-school affiliated feeder organizations
• Fundraise for program needs beyond what the Athletic Department provides
• Communicate schedules, expectations, and updates with players and families
• Promote the program through school events and community outreach
• Serve as a role model for student-athletes and demonstrate school spirit
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
