Job Description

This role is based remotely but if you live within a 50-mile radius of an office [Atlanta, Austin, Detroit, Warren, or Mountain View], you are expected to report to that location three times a week, at minimum.

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic individual to join GM as a Product Analytics Strategist, with a strong focus on stakeholder alignment and strategic vision within complex global environments. This role requires a keen ability to foster relationships, navigate organizational dynamics, and lead teams in building data products - self-serve data assets, data science models, and intelligence - designed to provide insight into customer behavior and product performance.

What You’ll Do

    • Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to define analytics requirements for new features and enhancements across eCommerce and mobile experiences.
    • Translate business questions and measurement goals into detailed tracking plans that specify event names, parameters, and data layer structure.
    • Ensure accurate implementation of tracking plans through QA/testing, collaborating with development teams to resolve data quality issues.
    • Work hands-on with in-house data products and analytics platforms to capture, structure, and analyze digital product performance data.
    • Analyze clickstream, transaction, and engagement data to uncover root causes, identify experience enhancements, market opportunities, and solution gaps.
    • Build and maintain reporting, dashboards, and workspaces to monitor KPIs such as conversion rate, retention, average order value, MAU/DAU, and customer lifetime value.
    • Translate insights into actionable recommendations and present them to digital product teams, leadership, and cross-functional stakeholders.
    • Partner with vendors and agency partners to measure the impact of new features, A/B tests, merchandising changes, and customer experience improvements.
    • Contribute to the strategic development and optimization of the eCommerce and mobile analytics tool stack, integrating solutions such as Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics 4, and mobile instrumentation platforms.
    • Stay informed on industry trends in digital commerce, mobile UX, personalization, and marketing technology to identify and implement new capabilities.
    • Manage project timelines, requirements, and communications to ensure deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

    • BA/BS in Marketing, Business, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or related field
    • 3+ years in analytics or development, ideally in digital product or commerce
    • Experience gathering business and technical requirements for analytics instrumentation
    • Ability to translate requirements into tracking plans, data layer specifications, and implementation briefs
    • Familiarity with tag management systems, SDK-based event tracking, and event taxonomy design
    • Understanding of standard eCommerce and mobile app behavioral metrics (conversion funnels, retention, engagement)
    • Hands-on experience validating analytics implementations and troubleshooting data quality issues
    • Knowledge of SQL for event-level data analysis; Python or other scripting languages is a plus
    • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with product managers, engineers, and data teams

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

    • Technical skills including experience with implementing tag management systems like Adobe Launch or Google Tag Manager and utilizing data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, Google Data Studio
    • Experience working in an agile development environment
    • Basic understanding of web technologies including HTML, CSS and JavaScript

    Compensation:

    • The expected base compensation for this role is: $81,000- $131,600. Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
    • Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
    • Benefits: GM offers a variety of health and wellbeing benefit programs. Benefit options include medical, dental, vision, Health Savings Account, Flexible Spending Accounts, retirement savings plan, sickness and accident benefits, life insurance, paid vacation & holidays, tuition assistance programs, employee assistance program, GM vehicle discounts and more
