Job Description

The Content Design Manager, Human Interface Design leads a team of content designers who shape the language experience across GM’s platforms. You will support the vision for how content supports product understanding, usability, and brand expression, ensuring every interaction is clear, consistent, and grounded in a unified language system. You’ll guide the team in crafting high‑quality interface content, establish and support standards that scale across features and channels, and partner closely with product, design, engineering, and AI teams to deliver cohesive end‑to‑end experiences. Through strong editorial leadership, systems thinking, and a well‑defined point of view, you’ll champion language as a core design asset that drives clarity, trust, and customer success.

This role leads a team of content designers responsible for all interface language and writing across our mobile and web applications. You’ll drive consistency, clarity, and communication while upholding a high standard of craft. You’ll develop and own a strong point of view that shapes how language shows up across our mobile and web platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and mentor a team of content designers working across all mobile and web applications.

  • Identify opportunities to build scalable content systems including reusable patterns and content models

  • Collaborate with designers, engineers, product managers, legal, localization, and AI/ML teams

  • Act as a subject matter expert and point of contact for content design related work in mobile and web.

  • Stay informed on trends in AI, localization, and inclusive language

  • Design great experiences through clear, consistent, and inclusive language

  • You’re a strong communicator: You can articulate strategy and detail with clarity and influence.

  • You care deeply about language: You evaluate and shape content with precision and empathy.

Requirements

  • Experience leading content design output and mentoring

  • Background in UX writing and content design

  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including legal, engineering, product, and marketing

  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with tools like Figma, design systems, and AI tooling

Education and Experience

  • Experience designing and governing scalable language systems

  • A clear portfolio of work that showcases your craft of writing, philosophy on leadership, and overall approach to content design problem solving.

The salary range for this role is (140,100 - $186,700). The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
