Materials Management Technician
Greene County General Hospital
Under normal supervision, performs all duties related to purchase order entry and post- entry supply chain tracking. Interacts with suppliers to maintain pricing and delivery scheduling. Interacts with internal personnel regarding purchasing needs and order statuses. Maintain stock rooms and delivers supplies to various departments as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the accurate entry and submission of purchase orders based on customer demand, stock replenishment and management direction.
- Maintain superior level of accuracy while creating and verifying purchase order information including proper product costing, shipping instructions, etc.
- Coordinate order status report submissions from suppliers. Resolve changes and discrepancies, and update purchase order information accordingly.
- Complete routine purchase order review and follow-up and expediting of orders.
- Maintain supplier price lists.
- Communicate professionally and courteously directly with suppliers in relation to order processing as required to resolve issues and receive order acknowledgements.
- E-File all order documents and electronically attaches to appropriate system locations per document management system.
- Maintain stock levels of supplies and make Maintenance, Repair and Operating purchases.
- Accurately issues supplies and products from stockroom.
- Ensure all products received are properly stored and maintained.
- Participate in inventory counts.
- Delivers supplies to all departments throughout the hospital and clinics in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
- Cleans and maintains storeroom and receiving areas.
- Keeps shelves and bins free of dirt and trash.
- Keeps aisles clear and removes empty boxes promptly.
- Provides for safe automobile transportation of materials to and from appropriate locations.
- Maintains familiarity of merchandise used within the hospital.
- Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety.
- Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns.
- Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities.
- Protects patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Job Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification: Current Indiana driver’s license required in good standing.
Experience: 2 years of previous experience in materials management department preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook, required.
Physical Requirements: Frequently required to stand and walk for extended period and frequently requires sitting. Overall dexterity is required frequently, including handling, reaching, grasping, bending, and feeling. Requires frequent climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Must be able to listen and communicate verbally in person, and on the phone. May require frequent lifting of up to 100 pounds. Overall vision is required, including close up work, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
