Job Description

This position is eligible for remote work with occasional required travel for meetings or training after a six-month on-site onboarding in our Bloomington, IN office. The anticipated salary range for this position is $57,000-$60,000 commensurate with experience.

The Indiana University Foundation is looking for a Prospect Research Analyst to join the Prospect Management & Research team. In this role, you will use your analytical skills, curiosity, and strong research abilities to identify and track the accomplishments and life events of alumni and donors whose support drives the IU mission.

Reporting to the Research Manager, you will perform strategic research on potential donors by analyzing large datasets and examining philanthropic and financial indicators, along with assessing their interest and ability to support Indiana University. The successful Prospect Research Analyst will enjoy heads-down research, organizing complex information, demonstrating strong writing skills, and taking pride in the behind-the-scenes work that leads to transformational gifts. Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 4 years of related work experience preferred
    • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Backgrounds in library science, education, investigative research, or data-heavy roles are highly encouraged.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising or CRM is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience and references demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and work independently and responsibly to meet competing deadlines
  • Knowledge of general fundraising best practices
  • Interpersonal skills and judgment suitable for exercising appropriate discretion and demeanor when dealing with colleagues, faculty, board members, and members of the public
  • Strong organizational skills required
  • Knowledge of Indiana University and IU Foundation history
  • Professional writing skills
  • Advanced computer, software, Internet, and database knowledge
  • Demonstrated commitment to following detailed procedures and documentation practices.
