Job Description
The IU Foundation is seeking a forward-thinking problem-solver with a strong accounting foundation to serve as our next Gift Accounting Specialist. Reporting to the Senior Director of Revenue Operations, you are responsible for the accuracy of revenue and gift credit across IUF's financial systems, and the financial foundation you help maintain makes IUF's philanthropic work possible."
Day to day, you will own the reconciliation cycle, generating reports, reviewing entries, and ensuring gift and revenue data is accurate and complete. You contribute directly to gift processing, manage holding accounts, and see adjustments through from initiation to resolution. You will support quality assurance reviews, assist in research through our Crimson database, and serve as backup for various payroll processes.
You'll have the opportunity to serve as the liaison between Revenue Operations, Accounting, IT, and more, building strong connections and communicating across departments. You will ensure daily communication on accounting issues is consistent, reconciliation discrepancies are documented, and Merchant Services has the support they need to keep online giving transactions running smoothly.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum of two years of professional work experience in accounting or a related field
- Combinations of relevant education and experience will be considered
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and general ledger reconciliation
- Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is preferred
- Comfort working with CRM and financial systems
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI or emerging tools to support workflow efficiency
- Ability to manage high-volume workloads and meet strict fiscal deadlines with consistency
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to translate financial and technical concepts for non-specialist audiences
- Collaborative working style with the ability to build relationships across departments and functions
- Self-directed and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to identify process improvement opportunities and follow through
Additional Information
The compensation range for this position is $52,000- $58,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
This position is hybrid, based out of our Bloomington, Indiana office, and includes a minimum of three days of on-site work per week (to include Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) with a bank of 60 days to be used for remote work on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the year as permitted.
