The vice president and general counsel serves as the chief legal officer of Indiana University and a member of the President’s Cabinet. They represent and directs the representation of Indiana University in all legal matters; serves as legal advisor to the President, Board of Trustees, and senior administrators; and serves as a resource on legal matters and issues of institutional procedure and governance.
Reporting directly to the President, the vice president and general counsel oversees all legal aspects of transactional and regulatory matters related to the University, including directing associate counsels employed by the university and outside counsel retained to represent the university. This position also supervises certain functional offices assigned by the President, including Internal Audit, the Office of Civil Rights Compliance, and University Compliance.
