Position Summary
Indiana University School of Dentistry is seeking an oral and maxillofacial radiology faculty member. The successful candidate must have completed a CODA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology program and be eligible for a dental license in the State of Indiana. Appointment at the Clinical Associate Professor level requires Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Candidates considered for appointment at the Clinical Assistant Professor level must be board eligible for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology and are expected to achieve board certification within a reasonable period of time. We are seeking a clinician educator who will lead OMFR education, patient care, and research across all programs at the School of Dentistry at a pivotal time at the school. Through our strategic plan, the dental school is revising the predoctoral curriculum to expand clinical experiences, integrate foundational sciences into patient care, optimize practice using digital technologies, in a team-based care environment, using a progressive entrustment model. There are opportunities to establish a central Radiology Clinic, enhance the OMFR curriculum in the DDS and graduate programs, and grow the OMFR faculty practice. An opportunity to assume a leadership role as Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology is available for a highly qualified candidate.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the faculty in OMFR and other disciplines in dentistry to enhance the DDS curriculum and learning outcomes in OMFR.
  • Pre-clinical, clinical and didactic teaching in the DDS program.
  • Clinical and didactic teaching in the graduate programs.
  • Quality assurance of OMF imaging and interpretation across the School.
  • Intramural service- Radiographic interpretation of CBCT and advanced imaging in collaboration with the other dental specialties.
  • Scholarship- in clinical discipline and/or education. Opportunities abound to work with graduate students and faculty in dental specialty and PhD programs, including the Oral Health Research Institute, IU Medical School, and IU-Indianapolis schools and colleges.

External practice, or internal faculty practice opportunities with 20% protected time for this are available.

In 2026, we will open our newly renovated Delta Dental Special Care Clinic to enhance our ability to train oral health professionals and provide care for patients with disabilities, including those with complex craniofacial disorders and medical complexity in an interdisciplinary setting.



Basic Qualifications

Additional Qualifications
Salary and Rank Appointment will be at the Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate Professor level. Rank and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
