| Position Summary | IU Health Medical Group and the Indiana University School of Medicine are seeking a mid-career or established academic medical oncologist to join the Genitourinary (GU) Oncology Program. This is a tenure track position faculty position within the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology, at the Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine. This position is designed for a physician-scientist with focused expertise in GU malignancies and a strong commitment to translational, laboratory-based, and preclinical research. The successful candidate will join an established and highly active GU oncology program with a robust clinical trials portfolio and will help advance laboratory-driven discoveries that inform novel therapeutic strategies, biomarker development, correlative science, and investigator-initiated clinical trials. The ideal candidate will have an independent laboratory program focused on GU cancer biology, drug development, biomarkers, mechanisms of resistance, tumor microenvironment, immuno-oncology, radiopharmaceuticals, antibody-drug conjugates, targeted therapies, or other areas of translational relevance to GU malignancies. This role will include a disease-site-focused clinical practice in GU oncology, with at least 50% effort dedicated to translational research, laboratory investigation, and collaboration with clinical trial teams. The candidate will be supported with protected research time, a competitive startup package, laboratory space, access to NCI-designated cancer center resources, and robust clinical trial infrastructure. Position Highlights
Key Responsibilities The successful candidate will lead a laboratory-based and/or preclinical research program focused on high-impact areas relevant to GU malignancies, including disease progression, therapeutic resistance, biomarker discovery, tumor biology, and novel drug development. The candidate will collaborate closely with GU clinical investigators to translate scientific discoveries into clinical trial concepts and to strengthen correlative science across the program’s clinical trials portfolio. Clinical responsibilities will include expert care of adult patients with GU cancers, with a clinical footprint aligned with the candidate’s research goals. The candidate will also be expected to pursue peer-reviewed funding (potential program project grants including SPOREs), publish in high-impact journals, mentor trainees and junior faculty, participate in multidisciplinary and disease-site research programs, and contribute to the academic mission of the Indiana University School of Medicine. IU School of Medicine is committed to being a welcoming campus community and we seek candidates whose research, teaching, and community engagement efforts contribute to robust learning and working environments for all students, staff, and faculty.
