Title Associate/Full Professor of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Pharmacology
Specific Title
Appointment Type Tenure Track Faculty
Department IUSM - Biochemistry, Molecular Biology & Pharmacology
Campus IU School of Medicine Indianapolis
Position Summary
The Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Pharmacology at the Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) seeks an innovative and collaborative Computational Pharmacologist/Drug Discovery Scientist to join a growing cluster of investigators focused on mechanistic biology and therapeutic discovery across varying research areas and diseases. IUSM offers competitive start-up and relocation packages, and exceptional candidates may be considered for endowed professorships.

The successful candidate will bridge medicinal chemistry, in vivo pharmacology and clinical deployment of therapeutics across disease states. We envision a collaborative, interdisciplinary position that integrates mechanistic discovery with therapeutic innovation. The successful candidate will develop advanced computational and systems-level frameworks to interrogate putative therapeutic compounds for optimization to targets. Research in this area is anticipated to provide the “blueprints” for medicinal chemistry efforts to create the next generation of human therapeutics in a collaborative, vibrant research program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pharmacological Modeling: Utilize computational tools to predict potential drug-drug interactions, metabolic pathways, and off-target toxicities within complex physiological systems.
  • Team Science: Partner with medicinal chemists, researchers within the Department and clinical partners to provide pharmacological insights that inform molecular and translational research in one of the key strategic research areas of the school.
  • Funding: Maintain a track record of external funding from sources such as NIH/NSF/CDMRP, industry partnerships, and foundations to support research focused on pharmacology, toxicology, and/or pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Teaching & Training: Contribute to the education mission of the department through teaching and mentorship.
