STUDENT ADVOCATES OFFICE (BL-SADV-IUBLA)

The Student Advocates Office (SAO) is proud to be a department within the Office of Student Life, committed to promoting learning and respect in all programs, interactions, and partnerships.
The Student Advocates Office (SAO) assists students in resolving academic and conduct issues. SAO provides a space for all students to be listened to nonjudgmentally, provides unconditional support, and helps students to resolve issues so that they can successfully maintain progress towards their degree.
The Part-Time Student Client Services Assistant joins the Student Advocates Office (SAO) and serves as the first point of contact for students, parents, faculty, and staff.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Supports the front office to answer phone calls and monitor the SAO email account.
- Greet and assist guests when they arrive at the office.
- Assist with scheduling appointments.
- Explain university and academic policies and procedures.
- Create and submit initial case reports in Maxient.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Required
- Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University Bloomington
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Customer service or office experience
SKILLS
Required
- Excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and multitasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Understanding of and commitment to confidentiality protocols.
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with a wide-ranging community
- Ability to listen nonjudgmentally and compassionately to students experiencing academic, financial, or conduct-related challenges
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Preferred start date is August 17th . Required start date is August 24th.
This position is work study eligible.

$14.25 per hour
Work-study will be prioritized
10- 15 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours across all IU jobs.
