SOUTHEAST ASIAN STUDIES (BL-SEAS-IUBLA)

The Southeast Asian and ASEAN Studies (SEAS) Program is rooted in IU's rich tradition of international outreach and educational exchange in the region. Our growing program is developing a variety of academic opportunities that capture the vitality and a wide variety of cultures of Southeast Asia, focused on a wide range of disciplines. SEAS is dedicated to fostering a greater and more comprehensive understanding of Southeast Asia and its people, languages, and cultures.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists with coordinating events or co-events, including hands-on support during the event, arranging hospitality, and communication.
  • Helps create and participate in outreach in order to make the campus community aware of SEAS programs and classes.
  • Creates and disseminates marketing materials like posters or digital signs.
  • Represents SEAS at HLS meetings when the Director cannot attend - taking notes.
  • Coordinates regular news and updates via the SEAS listserve and help keep website updated.
  • Helps to monitor SEAS email.
  • Assists with coordination and oversight of Fulbright Language Teaching Assistants (FLTAs) with the Director and HLS staff.
  • Manages communication and scheduling for language assessment exams.

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

SKILLS

Required

  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer Microsoft Office Suite of programs such as Word, Excel, Data Base Management, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills.
  • Demonstrates a high commitment to quality.
  • Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Must have strong organizational and planning skills.

$15.00 - $17.00 hourly based on skills and experience

Schedule for this position is 10 - 15 hours per week
