OPTOMETRY (BL-OPT-IUBLA)

This is a part-time position providing quality patient care to patients of the IU School of Optometry.

Department Specific Responsibilities

• Works independently, using advanced professional knowledge and specialized equipment.
• Participates in testing patients using imaging equipment for both clinical care and student instruction.
• Transmits image data to image technology database and corrects any errors.
• Trains and supervises optometry students in patient care and administrative policies.
• Responsible for scheduling referrals for outside appointments including faxing, emailing and/or mailing exam records and referral reports.
• Works directly with faculty in support of providing excellent patient care for all clinics.
• Ensures compliance by collecting and maintaining federally required documentation.
• Triages patient concerns.
  

EDUCATION

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

• 1 year of optometric technician experience

SKILLS

Required

• Proficient communication skills
