Since opening its doors in 1941, Indiana University (IU) Auditorium has served as a university and community gathering place, hosting an array of world-class artists, entertainers, musicians, and lecturers in its 3,200-seat theatre. As the leading performing arts organization in South Central Indiana in terms of quality, leadership, innovation, and overall guest satisfaction, IU Auditorium exists to create world-class arts and event experiences at Indiana University. In addition to the wide variety of arts and entertainment events, the Auditorium continues to serve as the community's gathering place, hosting a variety of university ceremonies, orientation programs, conferences, weddings, and special events.
Ticket Takers are the first point of contact for IU Auditorium guests, providing a warm welcome, ensuring smooth entry and exit, and upholding the safety and comfort of patrons. This role requires excellent customer service, attention to detail, and the ability to work actively in a fast-paced, high-traffic environment during a variety of performances and events.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Greets patrons and provide expert customer service.
- Scans tickets accurately at designated entry and exit points using handheld devices.
- Assists guests with directions, seating questions, and general inquiries about the venue.
- Monitors entry and exit to ensure all guests have valid tickets and are properly scanned in/out.
- Ensures safe and memorable guest experiences.
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Customer service experience
SKILLS
Required
- Demonstrates outstanding customer service and communication skills
- Ability to interact and communicate with a wide variety of people
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrates good organizational skills
- Ability to exchange information
The person in this position must have the ability to remain stationary for extended periods of time and move through a multi-level facility. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.
This job often requires working in the evenings and weekends.
