PARKING SERVICES (BA-PARK-IUBLA)
The Indiana University (IU) Office of Parking Operations helps students, employees, and visitors navigate transportation and parking at Indiana University Bloomington. The department manages campus parking, parking permits, parking garages, visitor parking, parking enforcement and citations, commuter programs, and sustainable transportation initiatives.
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Works closely with the Campus Auxiliaries Office of Communications and Marketing to develop and implement communications that promote transportation initiatives, parking updates, commuter programs, mobility services, and special events across the Bloomington campus.
- Supports communications and marketing efforts that help students, employees, and visitors understand parking services and regulations, stays informed about transportation updates, and discover commuting and sustainable transportation options.
- Attends Parking Operations meetings to develop an understanding of department operations, parking regulations, permit types, and transportation programs.
- Participates in Campus Auxiliaries Communications and Marketing meetings to share updates, coordinates projects, and collaborates on stories, website content, social media, and other marketing initiatives.
- Writes and edits stories, announcements, website content, marketing materials, and social media posts highlighting parking services, transportation programs, commuter resources, sustainability initiatives, and campus mobility improvements.
- Captures and edits photography and video for websites, presentations, digital signage, social media, newsletters, and promotional campaigns.
- Updates website content using Indiana University's Web Content Management System (WCMS), ensuring information is accurate, timely, accessible, and user-friendly.
- Assists in development and implementation of marketing campaigns promoting parking services, transportation programs, special events, construction updates, and commuter engagement.
- Conducts research to better understand communication preferences and information needs of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
- Monitors communications, social media, and higher education marketing trends and recommends creative approaches for engaging campus audiences.
- Collaborates with staff across Parking Operations, Campus Auxiliaries, and campus transportation units to develop consistent messaging and marketing materials.
- Supports special projects, brainstorm creative marketing ideas, and assists with promotional events throughout the academic year.
EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
Preferred
- Some college, coursework or degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, digital media, or a related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred
- Some experience with graphic design, social media, and digital content development.
SKILLS
Required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience creating photography and/or video content.
- Ability to write for multiple audiences and communication platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
- Able to be creative, organized, collaborative, and eager to learn.
Preferred
- Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar creative software.
- Experience updating websites or using a content management system.
- Experience managing or creating content for social media platforms.
- Basic knowledge of graphic design principles.
- Interest in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, or transportation and sustainability initiatives.
This position requires the ability to effectively communicate and operate a computer and standard office technology. Responsibilities include office-based work as well as walking throughout campus to photograph events, document transportation services, and gather content. Occasional evening or outdoor assignments may be required during campus events. The position may involve moving equipment or materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
Bloomington, Indiana
$12.25 per hour
15 - 20 hours per week.
Position is capped at 29 hours per week
