The Part-Time Mental Health Specialist role involves the delivery of clinical services to Indiana University, Bloomington students who have been the victims of or are survivors of interpersonal violence (including, sexual assault, sexual abuse, relationship violence, domestic violence, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, and/or stalking), through the Student Health Center's Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Survivor Counseling Services. The part-time Mental Health Specialist's work is expected to be culturally informed and consistent with the learning objectives of the Office of Student Life.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

• Provides clinical treatment of victims and survivors of interpersonal violence.
• Provides support through crisis drop-in coverage, also known as emergency services, for all of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to support all students in crisis or with acute need.
• Attends staff and clinical team meetings.
• Conducts individual intakes assessments to evaluate appropriateness of fit for Survivor Counseling Services.
• Provides direct clinical mental health treatment to individuals and groups.
• Manages individual caseload to incorporate new clients on a weekly or biweekly basis.
• Maintains accurate, timely clinical notes, following CAPS policies and procedures. Documents relevant consultation in the client's chart.
• Adheres to relevant ethical and legal standards of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), relevant professional bodies, and state board.
• Consults with and refers to other professionals when appropriate (e.g., psychiatrists, medical providers, and dietitians).
• Utilizes evidence-based clinical interventions.
• Collaborates with other Indiana University, Bloomington campus partners to support survivors (e.g., Student Care and Resource Center, Sexual Violence Prevention and Victims Advocates Office).
• When appropriate, utilizes additional campus resources to support clients, such as academic support, career services, cultural centers, Student Advocates Office, Accessible Education Services, and Confidential Victim Advocates.

EDUCATION

Required

• Master's degree in relevant mental health area from an accredited program.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

• 4 years of post-degree experience.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required

• Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Indiana upon date of hire. OR
• Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Indiana upon date of hire. OR
• Licensed Couples and Family Therapist in the state of Indiana upon date of hire.

This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

This role is a 10-month appointment, from August to May.

$37.18 per hour

Shifts will be scheduled between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with flexibility based on availability and department needs.

Not to exceed 29 hours per week across all IU positions.
