| Position Summary | The Kelley School of Business at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) invites applications for full-time, open-rank Lecturer positions in Professional Skills beginning Fall 2027. These are 10-month, non-tenure-track appointments with an 18-credit-hour annual teaching assignment. Professional Skills faculty teach primarily in Kelley Compass, a required three-course professional-development sequence for Kelley undergraduates. The sequence integrates career development with professional communication, leadership, teamwork, and professional identity development. Faculty typically have a primary assignment in one of the three Compass courses, with opportunities to teach across the sequence. Professional Skills Courses Compass 1: Professional Identity and Career Exploration (1.5 credits) Compass 1 introduces students to career development and professional identity. Students explore their values, interests, personality, and skills; investigate majors and career possibilities; learn to articulate their professional identity and value to professional audiences; and develop professional networking skills. Compass 2: Career Readiness and Job Search (1.5 credits) Compass 2 develops students’ career-readiness and recruiting skills. Course content includes employer research and career strategy, resumes, interviewing, professional correspondence and networking, giving and receiving actionable feedback, cultural competence, and emotional intelligence. Compass 3: Professional Communication, Leadership, and Teaming (1 credit) Compass 3 is the capstone of the required professional development sequence (this is an online, asynchronous course). The course emphasizes evidence-based professional communication, leadership, emotional intelligence, and effective participation in high-performance virtual teams. The Faculty Role Lecturers have both teaching and service obligations including curriculum development, pedagogical development and service to the Communication, Professional, and Computer Skills (CPCS) academic area, the Kelley School, Indiana University, and the broader community. Annual professional development funding is available for activities including conference travel, purchasing books, and research. These positions are based at the IUB campus in Bloomington, Indiana. Faculty members are expected to work on campus to fully engage with the area, school, campus, and community. About Kelley CPCS Communication, Professional, and Computer Skills (CPCS) is an integral part of the Kelley undergraduate curriculum. With more than 60 faculty, CPCS brings together instructors from a range of academic and professional backgrounds who teach courses in communication, career and professional development, and computer skills. All Kelley undergraduates complete courses offered by CPCS. CPCS faculty develop their own course materials while coordinating with colleagues teaching the same courses, providing both individual responsibility for the classroom and opportunities for curricular collaboration. Indiana University Bloomington, IU’s flagship campus, serves more than 47,000 students in a vibrant college town, while Kelley undergraduates bring strong academic and professional engagement from across the U.S. and around the world.
