OPTOMETRY (BL-OPT-IUBLA)

  • First point of contact for the Indiana University (IU) School of Optometry clinics.
  • Collects insurance data.
  • Collects patient demographic information.
  • Answers calls on a multi-phone system.
  • Schedules appointments.
  • Triages ocular emergencies.
  • Coordinates patient care.
  • Communicates with clinic staff.
  • Responds to general inquiries and satisfaction comments.

EDUCATION

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED.)

WORK EXPERIENCE

Preferred

  • 6 months of medical scheduling experience.
  • Previous experience in customer service.

SKILLS

Required

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality across all tasks.
  • Intermediate computer skills.

Preferred

  • Ability to use Practice management system.
  • Medical chart maintenance knowledge.
  • Ability to understand Insurance.

This position requires the ability to work a multi-phone system for scheduling patients at the Atwater Eye Care Center and Indianapolis Eye Care Center. This position also requires ccasional in-person work at the Atwater Eye Care Center.

This position is eligible for remote work, subject to change in the future based on university policy and business needs.

Most weeks, up to 29 hours per week

Call center hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, shift will consist of full days and partial days.
