O'Neill Career Hub Career Coaches are key mentors and strategists dedicated to empowering O'Neill students and alumni. A person in this role will bridge the gap between classroom learning and professional success by providing expert coaching, developing innovative programming, and ensuring the data integrity that drives our office's success.

Department Specific Responsibilities

  • Assists undergraduate students and alumni with professional and career development, exploration, decision-making, goal setting, and planning, via 1-on-1 career coaching appointments and small groups.
  • Researches and develops specific knowledge about the skills, abilities, and competencies required by industries and organizations hiring. Meets with employers and alumni to learn about industry trends, application and interview recommendations, and other valuable knowledge that can be shared with students and alumni.
  • Consults and collaborates effectively with Career Hub leadership team and fellow career coaches to share student, industry, employer, and other relevant information. Problem solves concerns with student, employer, alumni, staff and faculty stakeholders.
  • Assists in the process of collecting and tracking data for office assessment purposes.
  • Creates and implements resources, services, and programs that anticipate or responds to trends in the preparation, recruiting, and hiring of students.
  • Administers student internship courses; monitor student performance and progress; communicate with Career Hub leadership team and internship supervisors as needed.

EDUCATION

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in public affairs, higher education, business or related field.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in public affairs, higher education, business or related field.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Required

  • 2 years of relevant professional experience.

Preferred

  • 2 years in career consulting or related field.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with a variety of populations.

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

The appointment is anticipated to run through the end of May, 2027.

Renewal of the position may be possible for academic year 2027-2028 (August 2027-May 2028) based on successful performance and available funding.
