Position Summary
The Department of Kinesiology in the School of Health & Human Sciences (SHHS) at Indiana University Indianapolis invites applications for a full-time, 10-month, tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

The successful applicant will have the ability to teach and mentor both graduate (MS and PhD) and undergraduate (BS) students, will be responsible for developing an active and sustainable research agenda in their area of expertise, generate external funding, engage in teaching, and provide service to the school, university, community, and profession. Individuals with translational research and/or community engagement experiences are especially encouraged to apply.

The Department of Kinesiology offers a BS with plans of study in:
- Exercise Science
- Applied Fitness and Sports Performance
- Physical Education Teacher Education
- Nutrition and Wellness

SHHS also offers PhD and MS degrees in Human Performance and Rehabilitation Sciences.

Applications will be reviewed beginning December 1, 2026, and will be accepted until the position is filled. The target starting date is August 1, 2027.

Basic Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Human Movement Science, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching and/or professional experience in:
    • Sport and Human Performance Testing and Interpretation.
    • Exercise Leadership and Program Design.
    • Behavioral Aspects of Physical Activity and Exercise.
  • Active research agenda aligned with the discipline of kinesiology.
  • Demonstrated potential or history of securing independent external research funding.
  • Experience in mentoring undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional students.

  • Active interest or demonstrated success in interdisciplinary research collaborations across SHHS, the IU School of Medicine, or campus research institutes (e.g., ICMH, CBATI, H2W).
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students, employees, and other members of the university community.
