Behavioral Health Counselor

Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital is seeking a dedicated Behavioral Health Counselor to provide essential mental health services. This full-time role involves conducting assessments, therapy sessions, discharge planning, and crisis intervention to support patients across the lifespan.
Position Overview:
The Behavioral Health Counselor will:
Facilitate patient engagement in treatment and education
Conduct individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices
Support discharge planning and care coordination
Collaborate with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive services
Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed
Assist in assessing psychosocial risk factors and mobilizing community resources
Serve as a key contact for protective and legal case management
Qualifications & Requirements:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field required
Current Indiana licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, LMFT, LCAC, or HSPP required
Experience in mental health, healthcare, or community settings preferred
Crisis intervention certification preferred
BLS certification preferred or required within a specified time frame
Proficiency in EMR and MS Office applications
Strong collaboration and communication skills
