Position Overview

The Tax Analyst position within the Kimball Electronics Shared Services Tax team is focused on supporting the federal, state and local compliance and planning areas. This position could be located at Kimball Electronics Headquarters in Jasper, IN or remote and reports to the Tax Manager. It is a Shared Services position that will be responsible for ensuring tax obligations are being accurately, efficiently and timely met, while legally minimizing the tax liability and maximizing after tax profits.

Quick Summary

Tax Analyst key responsibilities include ensuring compliance with tax rules and assisting with related audits, assisting with preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provisions, assisting with the preparation of federal, state and local income and franchise tax returns, research and advising on new tax laws, rules and regulations and continuous improvement of tax processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy.

The goal is to support, grow, and continuously improve our tax processes for the organization. Basic Background Requirements

This position will require:

  • Corporate tax and accounting experience
  • Experience with corporate income tax preparation software, such as OneSource
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Analyzing and interpreting data
  • Ability to follow processes/procedures
  • Experience with Microsoft-Excel and Word
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Helpful, but not required are a CPA or CMA certifications

Key Performance Objectives

  • Short Term: (0 to 6 months)
  • Learn KEI Guiding Principles, philosophies, and cultural attributes.
  • Develop a basic understanding of Corporate Tax at KEI including key transactions, processes, interfaces, and current state.
  • Build and maintain business relationships with Finance team members and Business Unit contacts.
  • Learn KEI’s SAP and BPC query tools
  • Maintain documentation in support of various regulatory requirements
  • Assist in preparing U.S. income tax return supporting schedules
  • Analyze deferred tax provisions
  • Assist with the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual income tax provision, reconciliations and ASC 740 schedules
  • Midterm: (6 to 18 months)
  • Prepare federal, state and local income and franchise income tax returns
  • Advise Director of Corporate Tax on the impact of new tax laws
  • Prepare international tax calculations and schedules for GILTI and FDII
  • Research, advise and lead communications to the Director of Corporate Tax and the Tax team regarding the impact of new and/or changing domestic and foreign tax laws, rules and regulations
  • Continuously seek improvement opportunities for Tax processes to ensure efficiency and accuracy
  • Review/update process documentation as needed
  • Assist in the software selection for income tax preparation and research
  • Participate in tax planning projects

  • The typical pay range for this role is: $60000 - $80000- the actual wages offered will vary based on multiple factors, including experience, education, geography, and other relevant factors.
