Leidos is currently seeking a Junior Environmental Project Manager to join our environmental consulting team. This is a great opportunity to be a part of an experienced consulting practice and apply your skills to support our consistently growing base of federal and commercial customers in the U.S. Our team of industry-leading environmental restoration professionals including engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, scientists, risk assessors, modelers, and chemists work on complex projects for most major federal customers nationwide.

The Mission:

As a Junior Project Manager, you will primarily manage tasks or deliverables on federal environmental projects with oversight, direction, and mentoring from Senior Staff including Leidos Senior Project Managers. The scope of the federal environmental projects includes CERCLA and RCRA investigations, feasibility studies and decision documents, remedial design and execution, LTM/LTO, and environmental compliance.

Must possess a valid driver's license and pass government background checks to access and work on U.S. Government installations. Due to contract requirements, only U.S. Citizens and U.S. Permanent Residents will be considered.

This position allows for remote work, with up to 30% travel required annually.

The anticipated salary range for this role is $100,000 to $120,000 annually.

The Challenge:

  • Work on and lead a variety of interesting, small to large CERCLA remedial investigations including the coordination of short and long field efforts drilling soil borings, completion of vertical aquifer profiling, collection of groundwater samples, etc.

  • Define requirements, oversee, and support preparation of project management and governing work plans, including technical deliverables, i.e. SAP/QAPP, APP/SSHP, sampling and analysis plans, waste management plans, RI/FS, PP, ROD, RD, or equivalent documents.

  • Procure, select, and oversee subcontractors that support Leidos’ prime contracts

  • Prepare and present project findings to clients, regulatory agencies, and the public with support from the multi-disciplinary team

  • Successfully navigate and communicate with multiple stakeholders with competing or conflicting requirements

Potential Growth to:

  • Manage and execute programs and projects (>$5M firm fixed price or >$50M T&M or cost plus) within Leidos’ program execution framework and procedures; includes cost tracking, profit/loss, estimates to complete, schedule, and performance metrics

  • Define project requirements and technical objectives; establish, direct, and lead project task teams across multiple technical disciplines; and manage project logistics and execution

  • Develop exit strategies and solutions for complex technical and regulatory issues

  • Lead proposal development, including technical solutions, management approaches, risk management strategies, and basis of estimates

What Sets You Apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Geology, Environmental Sciences, or related field, and at least four (4+) years’ experience managing federal and state environmental projects, to include management of staff, budgets, schedule and scope.

  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), Project Management Professional (PMP), or progress toward obtaining certification in field of specialty

  • Demonstrated success managing field efforts for federal projects

  • Willing and able to travel to project locations to attend client and stakeholder meetings, conduct site visits, assist in coordination of field efforts, etc.

You May Also Have:

  • Knowledge and experience with PFAS emerging contaminant issues

  • Knowledge and experience with remediation technologies and remediation systems

At Leidos, we don’t want someone who "fits the mold"—we want someone who melts it down and builds something better. This is a role for the restless, the over-caffeinated, the ones who ask, “what’s next?” before the dust settles on “what’s now.”

If you’re already scheming step 20 while everyone else is still debating step 2… good. You’ll fit right in.
