Leidos is in search of a Project Manager to support the exciting Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) team. This position will perform assignments such as: developing procedures, processes, performance measurement metrics, understanding of subcontractor contract requirements, coordination and preparation of data to support project performance reviews, monthly reporting and maintaining and reporting on project key performance indicators (KPI’s). Additionally, this position will oversee the detailed planning and coordination of project work and the integration of all tasks into a unified effort that minimizes impacts to ongoing operations. This position will also take part in project proposal development, proposal writing, and coordination with subcontractors.

Essential attributes for this position are leadership (people and project), time management, effective communication, attention to detail, contract knowledge and experience managing subcontractors, and computer competences. This position will work across the entire organization and will need to foster a strong teamwork, collaboration, and leadership skillset.

*** Deployment to Antarctica may be necessary at the discretion of management (approximately 3 to 8 weeks/year). The candidate in the position must complete the physical and dental examinations required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. ***

Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.

Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.

About the Antarctic Support Contract:

Leidos Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) is the prime contractor to the National Science Foundation (NSF) in support of the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). Leidos supports the NSF’s Office of Polar Program’s Antarctic Infrastructure and Logistics by aligning with their Mission and Vision Statements:

  • Vision: Expanding our scientific reach in Antarctica through increased operational and logistical effectiveness.

  • Mission: To provide the operational and logistical platform necessary for the U.S. to conduct world-class science in Antarctica and maintain its active and influential presence on the continent.

Leidos ASC provides science and logistics support for approximately 150 science and technical events across three geographically remote research stations; McMurdo Station, Palmer Station, and South Pole Station and several deep field sites across Antarctica. Each station or field site supports world class research across multiple science disciplines. The planning and implementation of science support requirements in Antarctica is a critical part of our mission.

The Challenge:

  • Lead multiple, complex projects and teams through the entire project lifecycle, from planning and initiation, stakeholder identification, design development, project planning, execution and closeout.

  • Coordinate and integrate the activities of all project team members and support functions in a matrixed organization. Establish priorities for the project team based on customer and project requirements and holding the project team accountable for all project activities and deadlines.

  • Effectively collaborate with all functional areas as required by the project including facilities, operations, information technology & communications, transportation & logistics, engineering, planning & controls, procurement, subcontracts, and finance to achieve an integrated team approach.

  • Experience managing facilities and maintenance or construction projects from project proposal submittals and RFI’s, to red-lines, as-builts, and closeout.

  • Implement and practice solid risk management including risk identification, continuous risk analysis, mitigation activities and hosting monthly project risk board review meetings throughout the life of the project.

  • Perform weekly and monthly schedule and resource analysis to provide accurate project forecasts.

  • Perform CAM responsibilities in accordance with ASC policies and project requirements including monitoring execution of project scope to ensure only approved scope is completed, updating labor and cost projects, analyzing project variances and documenting cause, impact and recovery efforts.

  • Experience in the management of subcontracts including subcontract negotiations, development of statements of work, requests for information and proposals; and ability to ensure compliance with the subcontract terms and conditions and performance baseline commitments.

  • Experience managing all aspects of a project schedule including development, baseline management, scheduling relationship types and critical path analysis.

  • Executes projects by following standardized project management processes, specifically; scope management, change management, communications management, quality management, resource-needs planning and management, and project information and data management.

  • Ensure project completion within budget, schedule and conformance with design; developing contingency planning scenarios to recover performance baseline (cost, schedule and scope) to ensure delivery on commitments in the contract/subcontract.

What Sets You Apart:

  • Must have Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of Construction and/or Project Management experience with Vertical Construction/Building Projects or Facilities Maintenance/Upgrade Projects, including 4 years at the Project Manager or Construction Engineering Manager level of responsibility. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Demonstrated ability to report and clearly communicate project status and updates to executive level leadership, in both written and verbal communication methods.

  • Must be articulate in communication with multiple levels of clients and stakeholders including subcontractors, internal design and engineering teams, procurement coordinators, and National Science Foundation representatives.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships internally and external to ASC and Leidos.

  • Ability to maintain well organized project artifacts and documents while sharing and working collaboratively with all project team members and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and/or manage change.

  • Contract and vendor management.

You May Also Have:

  • MBA or Advanced degree in a related field.

  • Professional Registration or Project Management Institute certification is preferred.

  • Remote and/or extreme environment construction experience.

  • Excellent business acumen and ability to formulate solutions to complex problems and clearly communicate strategies to large audiences.

  • Strong organizational skills to handle many overlapping projects simultaneously.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
