SMIT Proposal Operations is seeking a Business Systems & AI Solutions Intern to support proposal development as part of the US Navy SMIT Growth Team. This role provides end-to-end tools and systems support across the proposal lifecycle, from initial solution definition through SLIN development, BOE creation, pricing, and final proposal artifacts.

This intern will work directly with proposal leadership and cross-functional teams to enhance and integrate internal tools, streamline workflows, and leverage AI to reuse historical proposal data and perform consistency checks across technical and pricing outputs. The successful candidate will help ensure proposal tools and processes are executable, efficient, and aligned across all proposal inputs and deliverables.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Enhance and integrate proposal tools using Microsoft Excel, automation and AI
• Streamline the program specific Basis of Estimate template to better align with corporate BOE
• Maintain and enhance internally developed tools in Microsoft Excel
• Develop or support tools that analyze historical BOE data to identify similar or analogous tasks
• Support development of concepts of operations (CONOPS) and associated processes
• Conduct targeted research on technical services to support solution development
• Work with pricing, engineering, contracts, and capture teams to ensure proposed solutions are executable and deliverable

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field
• Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas and macros
• Experience with JavaScript, Visual Basic/VBA, and/or Python
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to multi-task, self-assign work, and operate in a fast-paced proposal environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Candidates must be US citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance as a condition of employment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with BOE development, proposal pricing, or government contracting environments
• Experience applying AI or generative AI tools to business or analytical problems
• Familiarity with Salesforce, Power BI, SharePoint, or similar platforms
• Experience working with automation tools, data repositories, or legacy systems
• Ability to remain upbeat, positive, and constructive under high-pressure deadlines
