Leidos is seeking a Civil Resident Engineer to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Headquarters in Washington D.C. This is a virtual position and the candidate may live anywhere within the United States. Telework is 100% with business travel 100%. The resident engineer will need on to be on project sites.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Prepare summary trip reports within two working days of trip completion.
  • Compile and complete project documents.
  • Provide technical engineering support for all phases of assigned new construction and renovation projects (i.e. evaluate shop drawings, design proposals, and interpret the technical requirements for adherence to contract documents).
  • Participate in Joint Acceptance Inspections (JAI) and Contractor Acceptance Inspections (CAI) on all assigned projects and provide recommended resolutions on all items relating to engineering.
  • Perform engineering studies for feasibility and cost versus benefit.
  • Provide technical input to the Government Technical Interpreter in actions to plan, budget, program, and coordinate the development of engineering projects.
  • Develop project drawings in accordance with the FAA Standard/guidelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • Civil Engineering Degree required with at least 8 – 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 – 10 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain. Relevant experience is Project Engineer and/or
  • Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design and experience with tower, shelter and similar structure projects.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Project Engineer and/or Resident Engineer with Civil Engineering Design and experience with tower, shelter and similar structure projects.
  • Knowledge of multiple of the following, Unstaffed Infrastructure Sustainment (UIS) facilities:
  • Metal equipment towers
  • Commercial/Industrial Structures.
  • Roof Replacements.
  • Emergency and battery backup systems Small HVAC systems.
  • Remote site work Road design Concrete.
  • Site grading Equipment shelters Concrete foundations Structural.
  • Environmental permitting (NEPA, ARAP, stormwater, etc) Lightning protection and grounding.
  • Hazmat (Pb, Asbestos) abatement.
  • Construction risk management.
  • Utility layout design: water, power, comm, sewer
  • Knowledge of Project management software (CWP, Primavera, Microsoft project, etc) and/ or Computer aided design (AutoCAD, Microstation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security Clearance Suitability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Work Plan (CWP) 4.1.12.
  • Knowledge of National Airspace System Equipment Tower (NASET).
  • Knowledge of National Airspace System Equipment Building (NASEB).
  • Knowledge of Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), power, general building
  • construction techniques, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), fire detection, security, site work.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $92,300.00 - $166,850.00
