Leidos is seeking a university student to join our remote team as a Process Mining Intern supporting CDAO Innovation and Automation efforts. This internship offers an opportunity to contribute to projects focused on process ming, data engineering and operational analytics that supports Leidos’ internal innovation and mission delivery.
This intern will work hands-on with teams analyzing operational processes using modern process mining platforms. Responsibilities will include accessing and preparing data from enterprise systems, mapping event logs and analyzing process models with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation, efficiency and improved decision-making.
We welcome applicants from a variety of academic backgrounds who have strong interest or experience in analytics, data, or AI. This role emphasizes hands-on, data engineering, process analysis and applied analytics in enterprise environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in data extraction and preparation from enterprise systems to support process mining initiatives.
- Support data mapping and event log creation, transforming system data into process mining ready formats.
- Contribute to data engineering activities, including data cleansing, transformation and validation.
- Assist in building process models and visualizations using process mining tools.
- Analyze discovered process models to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with process owners and business stakeholders to validate process models and interpret findings
- Support documentation of process insights, improvement opportunities and automation candidates
- Work multidisciplinary teams supporting automation, AI and digital transformation initiatives
Basic Qualifications:
- Actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in the Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Business Analytics or related field.
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance if required
- Interest in data engineering, analytics, process mining or operational improvement
- Familiarity with data analysis, databases or programming
- Experience or coursework with one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL, R, Java, C++, JavaScript)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework, projects, or hands-on experience in areas such as:
- Data Engineering or data wrangling
- Business process analysis or process improvement
- Data visualization or analytics
- Familiarity with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, HR, Finance systems)
- Exposure to process mining platforms or workflow analysis tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with interest in understanding how organizations operate and improve processes

Pay Range:
