The Digital Modernization Sector currently has an opening for a mid-level ServiceNow Software Engineer to work remotely. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your software engineering skills to design, develop, test, and troubleshoot software programs for new and enhanced ServiceNow systems. You will play a critical role in supporting DoD customers by applying appropriate principles, standards, processes, and tools throughout the software development life cycle.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform full-lifecycle software engineering functions on the ServiceNow platform, including the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging of software enhancements.
- Work independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with a significant impact on operational results and project deliverables.
- Develop technical solutions that require collaboration with internal experts, requiring a deep understanding of the platform's impact on the end-product/solution.
- Configure, customize, and maintain core IT Service Management (ITSM) modules (Incident, Problem, Change, Request) and IT Operations Management (ITOM) modules.
- Maintain CMDB health and accuracy, ensuring proper data normalization and lifecycle management.
- Support the implementation and roadmap of advanced platform features, such as ITSM Pro and AI-driven capabilities like Now Assist.
- Communicate effectively with internal and client project team members, working to influence team members regarding solution design, process, and approaches.
- Develop solutions to technical problems and issues that are unclear and require deep technical knowledge of the ServiceNow platform.
The successful candidate will be able to adapt to client needs and support the implementation of the ServiceNow roadmap. You will collaborate with a diverse workforce within a matrix environment and be able to communicate effectively by obtaining and synthesizing requirements from internal and external stakeholders, while working with the team to deliver a ServiceNow implementation that meets our customers’ needs. Since our organization operates under a shared services model, this role includes supporting multiple customers simultaneously based on business needs.
Clearance Required:
- Active DoD Secret clearance or ability to obtain one.
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Bachelor’s degree and 4–8 years of prior relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2–6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- Must possess an active CompTIA Security+ certification or obtain one within the first 30 days of employment.
- Hands-on experience developing within the ServiceNow platform, with a strong understanding of UI Actions, Business Rules, Client Scripts, Script Includes, and Flow Designer.
- Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining ServiceNow ITSM and ITOM (e.g., Discovery, Service Mapping) applications.
- Deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts within the software engineering domain.
- Strong understanding of the Glide API (GlideRecord, GlideSystem, GlideAjax) and experience writing efficient, server-side and client-side scripts.
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment, including familiarity with story writing, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups.
- Experience building and maintaining complex integrations between ServiceNow and third-party systems using REST and SOAP web services.
Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Certifications such as ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) or Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) are a plus.
- A solid understanding of ITIL concepts and how they are applied within the ServiceNow platform.
- Previous experience in a similar role, including mentoring other developers and leading project teams.
- Familiarity with the Common Service Data Model (CSDM) framework.
- Previous experience operating within a DoD or highly regulated government environment.
- Experience with API integrations (REST/SOAP) and building custom applications on the Now Platform.
- Other relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, ITIL, ServiceNow, JIRA, CompTIA, Microsoft Azure, etc.,).
- Hands-on experience or active interest in ServiceNow’s emerging AI capabilities, such as configuring and implementing Now Assist and utilizing generative AI.
- Advanced understanding of CMDB health metrics, including data normalization, reconciliation rules, and identification rules.
- Exposure to Automated Test Framework (ATF) for creating and running automated tests to support rapid instance upgrades and patching.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
