SUMMARY
The Fiber Optics OSP Splicing Manager plays a critical leadership role in organizing, developing, and overseeing
all fiber splicing activities related to construction, maintenance, and network upgrades. This role ensures that
splicing work is performed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with industry standards and project
requirements. You will lead a team of supervisors and technicians, collaborating closely with internal
departments and external vendors.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in OSP fiber splicing techniques, tools, and troubleshooting.
· Manage and oversee all field splicing operations for construction, preventive maintenance, and service
demands.
· Lead and mentor a team of splicing supervisors, including coordination of in-house and subcontracted
splicing crews.
· Ensure accurate, efficient execution of splicing plans aligned with design and construction
specifications.
· Collaborate with engineering, project management, and construction teams to ensure network
readiness and reliability.
· Develop and implement scalable standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices for splicing
operations.
· Monitor and improve field performance, safety, quality control, and documentation standards.
· Analyze performance metrics and implement continuous process improvements to drive efficiency and
service excellence.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· 7+ years of experience in outside plant fiber optic splicing, including field supervision and planning.
· Proficiency with fiber splicing tools, test equipment (OTDR, power meters), safety protocols, and
QA/QC standards.
· Proven leadership skills with experience managing field teams or splicing crews.
· Strong organizational and project management abilities in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate across departments.
· Working knowledge of GIS/mapping tools, fiber documentation systems, and splicing schematics.
· Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
PREFERRED SKILLS
· OSHA 10/30 Certification
· Fiber certification (e.g., FOA CFOT, ETA Fiber Optics Installer)
· Experience with aerial and underground OSP construction methods
