MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Directed Energy Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a fully remote position.

As a Senior Directed Energy System Engineer, you will possess broad experience in all aspects of the theory & practice of high energy laser (HEL) and/or high-power microwave (HPM) systems engineering, to support multiple projects.

Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:

• Involvement with HEL system technology and beam control, including laser safety, thermal management of the laser and beam train, and atmospheric propagation.
• Familiarity with performance testing of integrated HEL systems both in laboratory and outdoor environments.
• Involvement with high power microwave system technology and HPM subsystems to include power generation and antennas.
• Familiarity with performance testing of integrated HPM systems both in laboratory and outdoor testing environments.
• Ability to perform system engineering of directed energy system programs. This includes modelling, simulation and analysis, requirements analysis, and system and subsystem specification generation.
• Interaction with Government and Industry DE professionals in the performance of these duties.
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• 20+ years of experience in laser physics, electro-optical system engineering, or high-power radio frequency system engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in a Science or Engineering field required; an additional 4 years of related experience might be substituted for a degree.
• Familiarity with on-going US DoD Directed Energy weapon development programs.
• 3+ years of experience in project management or technical direction of technology development programs.
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree or PhD in Physics or Engineering.
  

Clearance Requirements

• This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.
• No Clearance Required to Start.
  

Physical Requirements:

• You must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
• This position also requires occasional movement within the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
• You must be able to frequently communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, which may include delivering presentations. The ability to exchange accurate information in these situations is essential.
