MANTECH is seeking a versatile and highly organized professional to join our software development team as a Technical Writer for Vulcan Flight Deck to support the KC-130J health monitoring system based out of Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD), Patuxent River Naval Air Station, Patuxent River, MD. This is a remote position.
This role involves ensuring quality and comprehensive technical documentation for various audiences. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a talent for translating complex technical concepts into accessible language.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop and document comprehensive system requirements based on business and system concept of operations and Product Owner concepts for Vulcan Flight Deck
Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including analysis, testing, and deployment by working closely with developers, product managers, and business analysts throughout the agile software development lifecycle (SDLC) to define project requirements and technical solutions
Author and edit documents in support of software development, to include Software Requirements Specifications, Software Development Plans, Vulcan User Manuals, Test Reports, and others
Develop and maintain documentation for agile software development processes, such as user stories, functional descriptions, and release notes
Produce end-user documentation, including user manuals, help guides, and frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Create visual aids, such as diagrams and screenshots, to enhance user understanding of materials
Coordinate and manage documentation peer review quality assurance process in support of software development, to include Software Requirements Specifications, Risk Management Framework documentation, Software Development Plans, Vulcan User Manuals, Test Reports, and maintain technical documentation to include document version control and quality assurance
Travel up to 25%
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience
Experience authoring technical documentation for software requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences
Editing and proofreading technical materials for accuracy and clarity
Good organization skills to manage document configuration management
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or Engineering
Familiarity with Agile developments methodologies
Personal projects or internship experiences in technical writing in support of software development
Excellent communication skills and eagerness to learn
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Secret clearance prior to starting this position
Physical Requirements:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations
The projected compensation range for this position is $80,300.00-$133,700.00. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
