What You’ll Do

Lead and Develop People

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Environmental Services, and Patient Transport operations, Team Leaders, and departmental team members.

  • Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, coach, and develop team members to build a high-performing and engaged workforce.

  • Create opportunities for employees to learn new skills, take on additional responsibilities, and grow their careers.

  • Provide regular feedback, recognize accomplishments, address performance concerns, and support employee development and succession planning.

  • Build strong working relationships across departments and serve as a collaborative partner to leaders throughout the hospital.

Make an Impact on the Patient Experience

  • Direct daily operations to ensure our hospital and assigned facilities are clean, safe, sanitary, orderly, welcoming, and ready to serve our patients, families, and caregivers.

  • Maintain high standards for Environmental Services, and Patient Transport while keeping the patient experience at the center of decision-making.

  • Monitor department performance, employee productivity, patient throughput, and service quality, identifying opportunities to improve results.

  • Walk the facilities regularly, engage with staff, and proactively identify opportunities to improve safety, cleanliness, efficiency, and the overall environment.

Lead with Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and service standards that support high-quality, efficient operations.

  • Look for creative ways to improve processes, enhance the patient and employee experience, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.

  • Establish clear expectations and accountability while giving team members the tools and support they need to succeed.

  • Use data, feedback, and collaboration to identify challenges and implement meaningful improvements.

Manage Resources and Operations

  • Develop and manage departmental operating, personnel, and capital budgets.

  • Make thoughtful decisions regarding staffing, equipment, supplies, and resources to support department goals.

  • Continuously evaluate operations to improve quality, utilization, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Ensure departments have the staffing, skills, equipment, and resources necessary to meet operational needs.

Ensure Safety and Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure departmental operations meet all applicable hospital, regulatory, accreditation, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Oversee the hospital’s waste management and recycling programs, including the proper handling and disposal of general, regulated, and hazardous waste.

  • Maintain required documentation related to chemical spills, asbestos removal, and regulated and hazardous waste removal.

  • Coordinate training for the hospital chemical spill response team.

  • Monitor compliance and take appropriate action when opportunities for improvement are identified.

Collaborate and Lead Across the Organization

  • Participate on hospital committees, teams, and initiatives that support short- and long-term organizational goals.

  • Partner with leaders and staff across the organization to solve problems and improve hospital operations.

  • Communicate departmental goals, progress, challenges, and results through meetings, reports, and other appropriate channels.

  • Serve as a visible, approachable leader who builds trust and creates a positive team environment.

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED — Required

  • Associate’s Degree — Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree — Preferred
