Substitute Teacher

JOB TITLE: Substitute Teacher

REPORTS TO: Building Principal & Administration Building

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher.

Substitute Rates:

  • Non-Certified Rate: $90.00 daily ($45.00 half day)
  • Certified Teacher Rate: $110.00 daily ($55.00 half day)
  • NLCS Retired Teacher Rate: $120.00 ($60.00 half day)
  • Morning half day 7:40 am to 11:29 am
  • Afternoon half day 11:29 am to 3:20 pm

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reports to the principal or designee upon arrival at the building with necessary forms.
  • Assumes responsibility for behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
  • Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and classroom assigned as fully as possible.
  • Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  • Remains in an assigned classroom until the official school closing.
  • Reports to the principal at the conclusion of the teaching day, to verify whether or not his/her services will be required on the next teaching day.
  • Teaches the lessons outlined and described in the classroom teacher's lesson plans as prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Writes a report about work completed at the end of each teaching day; leave it for the regular classroom teacher.
  • Reviews all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day with the principal, team leader, or department head.
  • Monitor all students' safety in the classroom.
  • Assist all students with assignments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Appropriate Sub Permit
  • Pass a background check
  • Demonstrates a desire to aid all students
  • Substitute Packet with Administration Building
  • Demonstrated teaching, oral & written communication skills, technology, and leadership skills. Able to give instruction to students. The ability to respond to individual student needs.
