We are seeking an International Trade Specialist to join our Global Supply Chain team. This role focuses primarily on customs compliance, ensuring all imports adhere to U.S. Customs regulations, trade agreements, and company policies, while supporting logistics operations. The specialist coordinates the importation of goods, maintains accurate documentation, and helps ensure timely and cost-effective movement of products across borders. Acting as a key liaison, this position works closely with internal teams, customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies. This position reports to the Manager of Global Supply Chain Logistics.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customs Compliance & Import Operations
- Coordinate the importation of goods in compliance with U.S. Customs and international trade regulations.
- Facilitate communication with customs brokers, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely import processing.
- Monitor changes in trade laws and regulations and recommend process adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Identify and escalate potential compliance risks and support mitigation strategies.
- Prepare and submit customs declarations and maintain accurate documentation for audit readiness.
- Verify HTS codes and calculate duties, including preferential treatments under FTAs and GSP.
- Manage trade programs, including Section 232, Section 301, and other applicable initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records and databases of product origins, materials, classifications, and related information.
- Conduct internal audits of import activities and support customs audits and reviews.
- Collaborate with customs brokers and government agencies to resolve compliance issues.
- Track customs law changes and run impact reports to assess effects on import operations.
- Support the development and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and internal controls for import operations.
- Manage specific trade programs like Section 232, Section 301 etc.
Inbound Freight
- Support domestic and international freight movement, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
- Monitor shipment status and provide updates to internal teams.
- Audit freight bills and resolve discrepancies in billing, customs charges, or logistics costs.
- Collaborate with Finance and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely invoice processing.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned to support inbound logistics operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1 year of international trade experience required.
- Working knowledge of customs regulations and procedures to ensure compliance with international trade laws and regulations.
- Familiar with global inbound freight logistics door to door movement procedures.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
