Position Summary
Paragon Force, Inc. is seeking a Database Management Analyst II to support the Department of Defense (DoD) environmental operations. This low-to-mid-level technical position is responsible for administering, testing, maintaining, and implementing computer databases that support environmental programs, scientific research, operational reporting, compliance activities, and contract performance requirements.
The Database Management Analyst II will ensure database integrity, security, availability, and performance while supporting users across multiple functional areas. The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively with project managers, scientists, engineers, analysts, and information technology personnel to develop and maintain database solutions that support mission-critical operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, test, and implement computer databases supporting environmental and operational programs.
- Monitor database performance, availability, integrity, and reliability to ensure efficient operation.
- Coordinate database updates, modifications, and enhancements in response to business and customer requirements.
- Assist with database design, configuration, migration, and implementation activities.
- Develop and maintain database structures, tables, queries, reports, and data management processes.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement database security measures to safeguard sensitive, proprietary, and government information.
- Manage user access permissions and ensure compliance with security and access control requirements.
- Perform routine database maintenance, backups, recovery testing, and system monitoring.
- Troubleshoot database issues and implement corrective actions to improve system performance and reliability.
- Support data quality initiatives by validating, auditing, and maintaining accurate database records.
- Coordinate with technical teams and stakeholders to identify database requirements and implement effective solutions.
- Develop documentation related to database configurations, procedures, security controls, and operational processes.
- Assist with integrating databases with applications, reporting tools, and data management systems.
- Support system testing, acceptance testing, and deployment activities.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Defense, customer, cybersecurity, and company requirements.
- Prepare reports, metrics, and status updates related to database performance and operational activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, Engineering, Business Information Systems, or a related field.
- Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience administering, testing, implementing, or maintaining computer databases.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
- Knowledge of database management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience working with relational database management systems (RDBMS).
- Experience implementing database security controls and user access management.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three to seven (3–7) years of professional database administration or database management experience.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or federal government programs.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar database platforms.
- Familiarity with database backup and recovery processes, data migration, and performance tuning.
- Experience supporting environmental, scientific, engineering, or operational data systems.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, information assurance requirements, and access control practices.
- Familiarity with reporting tools, data visualization platforms, or business intelligence applications.
- Relevant database, cybersecurity, or cloud certifications.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move equipment or materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
