Position Summary

Paragon Force, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Technician to support environmental compliance, monitoring, and pollution prevention activities associated with federal facilities and natural resources programs. This entry-level position assists environmental professionals, engineers, and scientists by collecting samples, conducting field investigations, performing laboratory testing, and maintaining environmental monitoring equipment.

The Environmental Technician utilizes technical knowledge acquired through formal training or equivalent experience to gather and analyze environmental data related to air, water, soil, and other environmental media. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, an interest in environmental science and compliance, and the ability to work both in laboratory and field environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental field investigations and monitoring activities to support environmental compliance, pollution prevention, and natural resource management programs.
  • Collect air, water, wastewater, soil, sediment, sludge, and other environmental samples in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform chemical, physical, and environmental testing of collected samples using approved laboratory and field methods.
  • Prepare samples for analysis and maintain proper chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Operate and maintain environmental monitoring, sampling, and testing equipment.
  • Record, compile, and organize environmental data, observations, measurements, and test results.
  • Assist with the collection of air quality samples, meteorological data, emissions data, and atmospheric monitoring information.
  • Collect water samples from streams, lakes, reservoirs, wastewater systems, industrial processes, and other environmental sources.
  • Conduct soil and sediment sampling activities to support environmental assessments and remediation projects.
  • Assist in evaluating environmental conditions and identifying potential sources of contamination or pollution.
  • Prepare reports, charts, graphs, summaries, and supporting documentation for review by environmental professionals.
  • Install, operate, inspect, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on environmental monitoring and testing equipment.
  • Support operation of fixed and mobile environmental monitoring stations and data collection systems.
  • Follow all applicable environmental regulations, safety requirements, laboratory procedures, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and contract requirements.
  • Perform other environmental support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0–3 years of experience in environmental science, environmental compliance, laboratory operations, natural resources, chemistry, biology, engineering technology, or a related field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and data collection skills.
  • Ability to accurately follow written procedures, sampling protocols, and testing methods.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Preferred

  • Technical training, coursework, or certifications in environmental science, chemistry, biology, engineering technology, natural resources, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with environmental sampling, monitoring equipment, laboratory procedures, or field investigations.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations, pollution prevention practices, or environmental compliance programs.
  • Experience using environmental monitoring instruments, laboratory equipment, GPS devices, or data collection systems.
  • Experience supporting federal, military, or industrial environmental programs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental and weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and perform field activities for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and transport environmental sampling equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain, construction sites, wooded areas, and environmentally sensitive locations.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection when necessary.
