Full job description
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Drafter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using PTC Creo software to develop detailed engineering drawings and models in support of complex projects. The Senior Drafter will work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to produce accurate and complete technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings, models, and assemblies using PTC Creo
- Interpret and translate engineering concepts, sketches, and specifications into accurate technical drawings
- Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with applicable standards, specifications, and requirements (e.g., ASME, MIL-SPEC, GD&T)
- Review and check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design requirements
- Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve design issues and incorporate changes
- Maintain and manage drawing files and documentation in accordance with configuration management procedures
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior drafters and designers
- Support design reviews and provide technical input as required
- Coordinate with manufacturing, fabrication, and other teams to ensure design intent is clearly communicated
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance drafting efficiency and quality
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5-7 years of drafting experience, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience using PTC Creo
- Proficiency in Creo Parametric, including part modeling, assembly modeling, and drawing creation
- Strong knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles and applications
- Experience with engineering drawing standards such as ASME Y14.5
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) or government contracts
- Familiarity with Windchill or other Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
- Experience with sheet metal, structural, or mechanical design
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and fabrication techniques
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position
- May be hybrid/remote
- May require occasional travel to customer/ NSWC Crane
- May require the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
Pay: $25.00 - $30.14 per hour
