Precise Systems is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Spectrum Monitoring / RF Engineer to support Expeditionary Electromagnetic Warfare programs at NSWC Crane. This position will provide RF engineering, spectrum monitoring, signal analysis, test support, documentation, and technical assessment support for EW systems, test environments, and related mission capabilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience monitoring, collecting, analyzing, and characterizing RF spectrum activity in laboratory, field, and operationally relevant environments. This role requires a strong understanding of RF systems, signal behavior, antennas, wireless communication protocols, spectrum analyzers, software defined radios, test instrumentation, and EW system test support.

The Spectrum Monitoring / RF Engineer will work with Government leads, engineers, test personnel, cybersecurity personnel, configuration management teams, logisticians, and other technical stakeholders to ensure spectrum-related data is collected, analyzed, documented, and used to support engineering decisions, test execution, and EW capability development.

This role requires in-person support.

Duties:

  • Provide engineering support for spectrum monitoring, RF signal analysis, and electromagnetic environment characterization in support of EW systems and test activities.
  • Plan, support, and execute RF spectrum monitoring activities in laboratory, field, and over-the-air test environments.
  • Operate and configure spectrum monitoring equipment, spectrum analyzers, receivers, antennas, software defined radios, signal collection systems, and associated test equipment.
  • Collect, process, analyze, and document RF spectrum data to identify signal characteristics, interference, anomalies, emitters, frequency activity, and test environment conditions.
  • Support evaluation of RF signal behavior, wireless communication protocols, signal propagation, antenna placement, and system performance in relevant electromagnetic environments.
  • Assist with spectrum supportability and electromagnetic environmental effects activities for platforms, systems, subsystems, and equipment.
  • Support analysis of current, near-term, and future communication technologies, wireless protocols, and advanced communication threats.
  • Support EW system development, testing, evaluation, and engineering assessments by providing spectrum-related data, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Assist with test planning, test setup, test execution, data collection, post-test analysis, and reporting for RF and EW test events.
  • Support developmental and final assessments in both laboratory and remote test locations.
  • Assist with RF modeling and simulation activities, including RF coverage analysis, antenna placement assessments, model validation, and RF test data correlation.
  • Support signal assessment, signal generation, and verification and validation activities as required.
  • Identify spectrum-related risks, technical issues, interference concerns, data quality concerns, and test limitations.
  • Provide engineering recommendations to improve spectrum monitoring methods, test rigor, data collection accuracy, repeatability, and test efficiency.
  • Develop and review technical documentation, test procedures, data summaries, analysis reports, technical reports, engineering judgment inputs, and briefing materials.
  • Coordinate with test leads, engineers, and technical stakeholders to ensure spectrum monitoring requirements are captured in test plans, schedules, and test procedures.
  • Support configuration management of spectrum monitoring equipment, test setups, RF instrumentation, software tools, and data collection configurations.
  • Participate in technical meetings, planning sessions, test readiness reviews, Integrated Product Teams, and post-test review meetings.
  • Ensure all collected data, documentation, and technical products are properly marked, handled, stored, and distributed in accordance with applicable security, CUI, OPSEC, and classification requirements.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related technical discipline.

Required Experience:

  • 3 years related professional experience in Electronics Countermeasures Systems
  • Relevant technical experience may be considered in lieu of degree depending on customer requirements.
  • Experience supporting RF engineering, spectrum monitoring, RF test, signal analysis, wireless communications, or EW systems.
  • Knowledge of RF fundamentals, including frequency, bandwidth, modulation, propagation, gain/loss, antennas, receivers, transmitters, noise, interference, and signal characterization.
  • Experience using RF test and measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, vector network analyzers, receivers, antennas, and software defined radios.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret RF spectrum data from lab or field environments.
  • Experience supporting test planning, test execution, test data collection, and technical reporting.
  • Ability to document technical findings, engineering recommendations, assumptions, risks, and supporting rationale.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, test personnel, program managers, Government leads, and cross-functional technical teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Secret clearance; Top Secret/SCI eligibility preferred.
  • Experience supporting Navy, NAVSEA, NSWC Crane, Marine Corps, or other DoD EW programs.
  • Experience with electronic warfare systems, electronic support, electronic attack, electronic protection, RF collection systems, tactical communications, or threat signal environments.
  • Experience with RF data analysis tools, MATLAB, Python, GNU Radio, LabVIEW, signal processing tools, or other analysis environments.
  • Familiarity with software defined radio platforms and RF collection architectures.
  • Experience supporting field test events, over-the-air testing, developmental testing, operational testing, or hardware-in-the-loop environments.
  • Familiarity with spectrum supportability, electromagnetic environmental effects, MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-HDBK-237, or related RF/spectrum standards.
