SUMMARY:

The Interventionist will be responsible for providing targeted instruction to students in all grades. Working with students both in their classes and leading small group instruction, the Interventionist will use student data to identify student gaps and work with teachers to determine the best course of action to help students succeed. The Interventionist will be an integral part of the team to drive exceptional student achievement.

EDUCATION/ LICENSE/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates Degree
  • Preferred experience in education

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties as assigned

  • Under supervision of the ENL teacher and building administrators, assist in managing behavior and procedures that are conducive for learning (classroom, halls, restrooms, lunch, etc.).
  • Under supervision of the ENL teacher, assist in planning and directing learning activities for students who are learning the English language.
  • Under supervision of the ENL teacher, assist in working with small groups of learners, in order to meet educational needs of students.
  • Under the supervision of an assigned teacher, assist in the management and organizational requirements of instruction (running off materials, setting up materials for group work, recording attendance, recording grades, etc.).
  • Participate in in-service training programs designed to upgrade knowledge and skills that will assist in meeting the educational, physical, social, or emotional needs of students.
  • Have the content skills needed to successfully be able to assist an assigned teacher in meeting the academic needs of students.
  • Be able to effectively work with assigned teachers, parents, and students in order to meet the academic, social, physical, and emotional needs of students.
  • Analyze performance data and collaborate with the ENL teacher and general education teacher to identify key objectives and skills to prioritize for small group intervention and re-teaching
  • Conduct daily and real-time data analysis to inform small group instruction
  • Plan and/ or implement rigorous, standards-aligned lessons for small group instruction to drive toward improved levels of mastery
  • Exhibit positive rapport with students, families, and colleagues
  • Create and foster a positive learning environment
  • Execute high levels of collaboration and communication with classroom teachers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general counseling periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts appropriate to the duties assigned. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to use appropriate language and accompanying techniques with adolescents on one-to-one basis as well as in groups. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers and parents; skill in oral and written communication.
