SAIC is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Acquisition Support Test Engineer to support our customer in the Weapons Systems Development Division’s Munitions Engineering Branch at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, Indiana.
The Acquisition Support Test Engineer role involves providing acquisition engineering and test support for various pyrotechnic and demolition munitions programs. The selected individual will play a pivotal role in reviewing, preparing, and developing technical documentation, including though not limited to reports, proposals, Procurement Data Packages (PDPs), Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Automated Drawing Lists (ADLs), and other acquisition deliverables. In addition, the selected individual will contribute to the planning, execution, and evaluation of testing procedures, ensuring compliance with industry, DoD standards and advanced engineering optimization strategies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement testing methods to evaluate munitions and related systems for acceptance and performance validation.
- Plan, coordinate, and arrange schedules, activities, and equipment required for testing to ensure all customer specifications are met.
- Evaluate specifications and define procedures and acceptance criteria for systems, subsystems, equipment, and components.
- Document any discrepancies encountered during testing operations and prepare actionable recommendations for corrective measures.
- Perform technical reviews of reports, correspondence, and technical documents (e.g., ADLs, PDPs, RFVs, ECPs, CDRLs, and manuals).
- Assist the customer and contractor team in preparing acquisition documentation, including statements of work (SOW), specifications, market survey results, draft synopsis, and more.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to applicable industry, government, and DoD standards.
- Represent SAIC and collaborate with government stakeholders and internal teams to provide effective technical solutions.
- Independently develop approaches to address technical challenges while ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Contribute to the success of specific programs and projects by driving imaginative but practical solutions to engineering challenges.
- Analyze feedback from testing to identify areas for improvement in testing equipment, procedures, and manufacturing processes.
- Recommend updates to testing requirements and parameters to meet emerging needs.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Minimum 5+ years of experience in design, manufacturing, or testing, and evaluating components, systems, or products.
- Wide knowledge of technical principles, theories, and concepts, with general knowledge of related fields (e.g., manufacturing, systems engineering, quality).
- Capable of providing innovative recommendations and practical solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, especially for explaining technical findings to diverse audiences.
- Experience working with technical stakeholders and inter-organizational teams to drive solutions and recommendations.
- Experience managing projects independently while meeting deadlines and deliverables.
- US Citizenship Required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Highly Desired Skills and Experience
- Strong background in DoD acquisition processes, technical documentation, and weapons systems development.
- Hands-on experience in developing and implementing procedures and compiling detailed data for analysis, reporting, and acceptance.
- Familiarity with munitions engineering, system safety compliance, and range or testing operations.
- Demonstrated problem-solving mindset with expertise in system evaluation and optimization.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
Additional Considerations
- Must be willing to adhere to all government and DoD safety, technical, and documentation standards.
- Occasional CONUS and possible OCONUS travel to test locations and vendor sites.
