Marketing & Communications Intern 2026
The SAIC Communications team is excited to offer a Summer Internship opportunity for college students in 2026. This program is ideal for those seeking real-world professional experience in an organization dedicated to using technology and innovation to serve and protect the world.
As a Marketing & Communications Intern you will gain hands-on experience in strategic communications, media relations, and corporate citizenship initiatives. This is a paid internship offering the opportunity to develop professional skills in communications strategy, executive thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, and brand reputation management.
During the internship, you will work closely with experienced marketing and communications professionals to support PR initiatives, research initiatives, and community impact programs that strengthen the company brand. You will gain exposure to media relations, social media strategy, corporate citizenship programs, and reputation management while contributing to meaningful projects that support business and communications objectives.
Flexible Work Options: You can expect to work 20-30 hours per week during the program.
Work Location: Remote/ Hybrid role- DC Metro area preferred, but not required

Key Responsibilities
• Assist with proactive media relations efforts, including developing storytelling strategies, building media lists, drafting pitches, and tracking media coverage.
• Contribute to brand and reputation research projects to help develop key company messaging.
• Support content planning across company social media platforms and help develop short-form social media campaigns aligned with business objectives.
• Conduct research and compile data to support corporate citizenship initiatives and communications strategies, including benchmarking industry best practices.
• Coordinate logistics for corporate citizenship programs and communications initiatives, including scheduling stakeholder meetings, managing project timelines, and maintaining program documentation and databases.
• Assist with the preparation of presentations and communication materials for internal and external stakeholders related to citizenship programs, brand initiatives, and strategic priorities.
• Support the development of strategic communications campaigns that amplify company announcements and capability launches.
• Shadow executive communications planning and contribute ideas for thought leadership initiatives, including media opportunities, speaking engagements, and social content recommendations.
• Explore and apply AI tools to assist with media analysis, content development, and communications planning while ensuring alignment with brand standards and quality expectations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
• High School and three (3) or more years of college coursework, pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• Passion for brand reputation, corporate communications, public relations, written content, and social media.
• Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, curious, and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
Preferred:
• Interest in government contracting (Jovon) and technology industries is a plus.
• Students with an anticipated graduation date in Fall/Winter 2026 or Spring 2027.
Target salary range: Up to $40,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
