Description

SAIC is searching for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Senior Database Engineer who performs high-level, day-to-day software testing solutions to join our team and begin an exciting and challenging career. This is a 100% Remote role.

Responsibilities:

  • Establishes database management systems, standards, requirements, guidelines and quality assurance for database deliverables, such as conceptual design and architecture, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
  • Works with clients to translate business requirements into a logical model that will accurately support and represent the client s entity relationship and flow of data.
  • Develops the appropriate database framework to convert the logical model into a physical model including the creation and maintenance of schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the model; and making recommendations to maximize operating efficiency, support storage requirements and vendor software updates, enforce data governance, ensure recovery is maintained.
  • Participates in quality assurance and develops test application code in client server environment.

Qualifications

Education Required:

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree and eight (8) years or more years of experience.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in SQL development and database management.

Experience Required:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
  • Proven track record of working with complex database systems and data warehousing solutions.
  • Experience with database design, architecture, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in SQL programming and query optimization. - Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and database query optimization techniques.
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica, Talend).
  • Understanding of data warehousing concepts and technologies.
  • Knowledge of backup and recovery processes.
  • Experience with database security, user roles, and permissions.
  • Familiarity with cloud database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell for database automation tasks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Additional Requirements:

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of business processes and requirements gathering.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers.
  • Advanced certifications in database management systems (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Certified Professional) are preferred.

Clearance Requirement:

  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.

Target salary range: $80,001 - $120,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
